Introduction to Completing
a Value for Money Review (1 day)

This course is suitable for front-line officers and managers that are involved in completing Value for Money/Quality Assurance reviews in Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and SEN provision. It aims to provide staff with the reviewing and reporting skills required to take the review from beginning to end.

At the end of the course staff should have improved knowledge of:

• What VfM means
• The key areas of a VfM Assessment
• How to plan a review
• How to complete a desktop assessment
• How to conduct an on-site review
• How to assess financial information
• Report writing skills


This training can be offered to both commissioning authorities and providers that need training in:

– Assessing contract compliance
– Assessing VfM within the sector
– Considering where efficiencies can be made
– Ensuring that current spend is transparent and appropriate
